    Job Title: OPERATIONS ADVISOR
    Location: HULL
    Salary: circa £65k-£80k per annum

    Our client is one of the largest suppliers of gas across the UK and Europe. They operate a gas storage facility that is on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to deliver gas into or take gas from the gas network, all within approximately two hours of a customer's request. The terminal processes the gas before it enters the National Transmission System through the entry point next to the terminal. It can handle up to 85 million standard cubic metres of gas per day. They employ approximately 85 staff and 20-25 contractors at this site at any one time
    Job Summary/Purpose

    To assist with the management of the resources provided for the operation of the Easington and Langeled Terminal utilities and process equipment. To support and provide direction to the operations teams as directed by the Terminal Manager in order to improve the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the operation and to protect the natural environment. To deputise for the Terminal Manager as required.


    Job Outline

    Provides leadership and direction in resolving operational problems expeditiously to maintain and improve safety, integrity and performance of the Terminal operations.
    Advises and co-ordinates the onshore resources on behalf of the Terminal Manager to maximise plant availability to ensure the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible import/export of gas/condensate.
    Oversees the "Permit to Work" system including the authorisation of PTW applications.
    To plan through the timely input of accurate information on activities and resource requirements to ensure that the process plant and equipment is fit for continued service.
    In conjunction with the Operations Support Team, short/medium term planning for maintenance and project activities.
    · He/she will develop and recommend modifications to enhance safety, environmental performance, efficiency and reliability. This role requires specific technical know-how and experience. The operations advisor will sign onto work packs to ensure the proposed work scope is fit for purpose and can be implemented to minimise impact on availability.

    Accountable to the Terminal Manager for reportable occurrences and operational difficulties as a result of maintenance activities that could affect safety, damage the environment or compromise availability.
    Assists the Terminal Manager in ensuring that all activities performed are in accordance with company policies, procedures and legal requirements.
    Mentors process apprentices and is responsible to ensure they gain sufficient experience to complete their apprenticeship.
    · To deputise for the Terminal Manager as required.

    · Challenges the effectiveness of current working practices in order to stimulate innovative ideas to improve safety and efficiency.


    Person Specification

    Ability to maintain focus on strategic objectives and understand the wider business impact of problems.
    Excellent problem solving ability.
    Ability to work at all levels within the business.
    Understands operational risks, and the roles of maintenance and engineering
    Shows initiative and drive, and is capable of working with limited direction
    A broad knowledge of process operations, preferably onshore/offshore gas processing is desirable but not essential.

    Education/ Experience
    Degree in an engineering discipline
    10 years experience in a senior operational management role within the hydrocarbon or petro-chemical industry is desirable.
