To lead the Despatch team to ensure that the proper set up for packing and despatch, quality requirements and delivery expectations of the customer occurs. Works as a part of the production team.
Reports to the Assistant Operations Manager.
Responsible for a team of up to 6 employees. Responsible for employee issues and the smooth running of production under his/her remit.
Qualifications
GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent are desirable.
IT literacy – essential.
FLT licence desirable (training will be given).
Experience
Experience of working in a warehouse environment, including organisation of despatch and delivery requirements. Must be self-motivated and able to work either alone or as part of a team
Skills & Attributes
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret relevant documentation. Ability to liase effectively with other departments, haulage contractors and customers in a coherent manner.
Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic mathematical equations.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply principles of logical thinking of a wide range of practical problems.
Ongoing Job Targets
Ensuring that production is constantly running smoothly and employee issues are dealt with appropriately. Ensuring the quality standards are met and that the team works in line with health and safety policies and legislation.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Ability to accurately prepare documents, production sheets and other reports and related paperwork as required.
Ability to calculate packaging requirements and maintain stocks in line with company policies.
Understand and perform regular stock inventory checks.
Communicate with external suppliers, customers and delivery services.
Maintain discipline, a safe working environment, and compliance of procedures. Keep work area clean and orderly.
Ability to recognize the need for work adaptations to meet the needs of customers and to refer such to appropriate people.
Motivate workers within the team to perform to the best of their abilities.
Capable of perceiving problems as they develop and communicating such to relevant individuals.
Responsible for all workers assigned to his/her specific work area.
Coordinate the work activities of workers.
Demonstrate job duties to new workers and observe the performance of workers in the team, and ensure compliance with procedures and safety regulations.
Responsible for monitoring the quality standards of the work area.
Efficient use of designated area for storage of materials and completed contract work.
Count and record production work on daily production sheets and transfer such to the production sheets as appropriate and/or computer systems.
Responsible for quality of product produced in her/her work area.
Responsible for preparation of shipment of finished goods to contracting customers, including appropriate paperwork, eg. packing lists.
Keep their manager(s) informed of issues related to performance including delays, which could cause contracts from not being completed on time.
Ensure that tasks are assigned based on the individual capabilities of members of the team.
Communicate workshop policy and rules to workers, including regular Company Briefs.
Investigate and report findings of accidents to appropriate personnel.
