Package Design Engineer - Yorkshire

Competitive Basic Salary + Annual Bonus + 25 Days Holidays + Contributory Pension

The Company

My client is a leading provider of innovative products and services that meets a variety of needs to the oil and gas and Hydrocarbon Processing industries. They offer a wide portfolio of products and services. Their state of the art manufacturing facilities are located across the globe with Sales Offices, Service Centres and representatives in more than 150 countries. They operate their industry’s widest network of service centres, supporting their customers in their operation. Their services include training, preventative maintenance, spare parts, replacement equipment, field services and repairs.

Due to rapid growth they now seek to add two highly motivated and professional individuals for the position of Package Design Engineer to be based at their site in Leeds.

The Role

As a Package Design Engineer you will be responsible for package design projects through to handover to production, observing the need to apply cost effective solutions and ensuring that costs are controlled within estimates provided at the tendering stage. Responsibilities will include;

  • Undertake responsibility for design, processing and supporting activities
  • Compile engineering design plans for each order or contract
  • Prepare and issue, according to established or agreed procedures, schedules and specifications, of calculations, drawings, requisition and piece lists to satisfy design, manufacture and customer requirements
  • Issue specifications for the selection, specification and ordering of factored equipment such as filters, PCV’s and PSV’s etc
  • Control the certification of all drawings and technical data issued to the customer and also the approval of all vendor drawings and data
  • Give support to other departments on engineering problems including the forwarding of engineering proposition data to advance engineering and sales
  • Liaise with customers and sub-suppliers as necessary
  • Observe the need to supply cost effective solutions and participate in ensuring costs are controlled within estimate
  • Ensure product development ideas are passed to the appropriate channels
  • Participate in introducing new or revised standard products into our manufacturing range and ensuring that our designs are compatible with the latest design standards

This represents an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to actively develop their engineering capabilities through close working with senior engineers. The position will suit individuals, who favour variety, have a flexible approach to work with excellent attention to detail and accuracy of working drawings.  The position as a Package Design Engineer, sits in a successful and dynamic team in a great facility at the head office. The Candidate

Ideally the successful candidate will be qualified with at least a City and Guilds or a HNC in Mechanical Engineering, with relevant experience within a related industry. Ideally you will be from package design background within the oil and gas industry, having the ability to produce accurate and detailed drawings (using CADPipe). You must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with good interpersonal and organisational skills. Experience of oil and gas pipe work, P&ID’s is essential and knowledge of SAP (PLM module) will be advantageous.
