Job Description
Legal PI Secretary
Based Castleford
Salary £16,177
Main duties:
To undertake designated tasks relating to secretarial support and general administration of the firm
To deal with word processing; to use the firm's case management system; and to produce documents and correspondence
To take dictation as required.
To attend to clients both on the telephone and in person. To take and record accurately any messages and pass the same on to the appropriate person.
To set up new files accurately and speedily on instructions from fee earners.
To make appointments, arrange meetings, maintain an up-to-date diary
To ensure that all outgoing correspondence and documents are neatly and attractively presented and bound in line with the firm's "house style" and the requirements of the practice.
To carry out correctly the prescribed procedures for document and file storage and closing files.
To undertake responsibility for switchboard and reception duties, if required.
To prepare, serve and tidy away refreshments as and when required for clients.
Skills & Experience:
Sound experience of computerised word processing systems.
Knowledge of the firms accounts procedures and practices so far as they relate to the work of the supervising fee earner.
Good team worker with ability to relate to and to have excellent working relationships with other members of department and with other members of staff generally.
Willingness to embrace change and continuous learning.
Numerate.
Fast and accurate keyboard and computer useage skills.
Eye for detail and ability to produce high quality work in a neat and presentable manner.
Ability and motivation to deal with a large volume of (mainly) repetitive work in an organised and logical manner and to use initiative persistence and determination to solve problems arising from identified errors and inconsistencies.
Excellent communication skills and articulate and self-confident in dealing with partners and staff.
