    To offer a comprehensive insurance service to a panel of Brokers. This will involve providing quotations via the telephone, or in writing, placing cover when instructed, inviting and confirming renewals, dealing with mid-term adjustments and providing assistance with claims issues when appropriate.

    Duties and Responsibilities:·

    Provide new business quotations on request from Members by telephone, fax, email and post, verbally and with formal confirmation in writing.
    This involves the assessment of the risk and negotiation of terms with the member. To be completed within the required timescales to ensure adherence within the departments documented service standards. ·
    Provide the relevant advice, information and guidance to Members.
    Where members’ requests are beyond your range of experience or authority, immediate referral is to be made to the Manager or Commercial and Technical Referral Underwriter.·
    Take instructions from Members, ensuring cover commences at the correct time, all relevant paperwork is completed, and relevant records are recorded on Acturis and diary entries are created where necessary.·
    Take instructions from Members in respect of alterations to current policies, ensuring the records are updated on Acturis, or alternative software systems, with the appropriate adjustment being completed at the time it arises.
    To be completed within the required timescales to ensure adherence within the departments documented service standards. ·
    Assess renewals to ensure their continued acceptability, applying terms as necessary to meet departmental/underwriting objectives. To be completed within the required timescales to ensure adherence within the departments documented service standards. ·
    Provide risk advice/risk management/risk prevention information to Members where required. · Check thoroughly all policy documentation before despatch, and amendments completed to ensure they are issued correctly.·
    Assist Members with enquiries relating to claims, either by direct involvement with the insurer concerned or providing contact names and telephone numbers for Member own direct contact.·
    Establish and develop business relationships with Members and Insurers including attending meetings and conducting presentations as required.·
    Promote company through attendance at regional meetings, broker inductions and broker visits as and when required.·
    Ensure month end invoicing and reporting requirements are completed.·
    Respond to accounts queries, taking action to resolve where possible.· Participate in regular team meetings, providing feedback on results, successes and problems to maximise team performance and management awareness of market conditions and member development.·
    Ensure relevant business activity fully complies with FSA regulation and company procedures as detailed in the compliance manual·
    Conduct learning, training and assessment exercises in accordance with the individual T&C scheme applicable to you. Identify further areas for development as required.· Any other duties that may be required by your Manager in accordance with the nature of this job.

    Knowledge/Experience

    This job requires a thorough knowledge of:

    · The FSA rules in regard to retail and commercial business
    · The principles, practices and legalities of all major classes of General Insurance and in particular, insurable interest, utmost good faith, indemnity, contribution, average and subrogation.
    · The UK General Insurance market in respect of both Personal and Commercial insurances.
    · Underwriting and rating factors, and how these are applied in relation to all major classes of commercial insurance

    This job requires knowledge of:

    · Rehabilitation of Offenders, Disability Discrimination and Race Relations Acts.
    · The Data Protection Act
    · Requirements of money laundering legislation
    · The Law of Agency
    · Credit Management procedures

    Skills
    · Good use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other MS applications
    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    · Ability to work to, and meet, deadlines and timescales
    · Good problem solving and analytical skills.

    Personal qualities

    Qualification

    · English Language/Maths (Grade A/B/C) at GCSE level, preferably A level
    · Working towards CII Qualifications
