Adult Social Care
Leeds Centre for Integrated Living
Independent Living Advisor
£18,907 - £20,736 (37 hours) Temporary for initially 2 years
An Executive Committee of Disabled People and Leeds City Council's Social Services established the Leeds Centre for Integrated Living (LCIL) in January 1999. LCIL provides services and training that promote the inclusion of disabled people in mainstream society. LCIL is moving towards more independent status.
LCIL requires an Independent Living Adviser to work as part of our busy Direct Payments Support Service called ASIST. ASIST enables local people to use Direct Payments and other funding to organise and manage their own personal support. This post therefore offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of modern service provision, enabling local people to exercise choice and control over the support they need. You will:
• work as part of a team that provides a range of independent living support
• work with people on a one-to-one basis, assisting them to set up systems to manage their own personal support, including employing and directing their own support workers
• carry out a wide range of administration tasks
• ork with a variety of people including service users, carers and social workers
The Department is committed to the training and development of all employees.
Leeds City Council is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. LCIL provides services run by disabled people for disabled people. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people and encourage you to apply for this post.
For an informal discussion about the post please contact Susan Morrell on: Voice (0113) 2143599, Minicom (0113) 214 3598, Email: susan.morrell@leeds.gov.uk
