An excellent opportunity has arisen within a Specialist Insurer based in Leeds due to growth.
They are seeking an ambitious, entrepreneurial Underwriter to join their business and take on an integral role in the long term plans for growth and development. This individual will expand their market presence in the Commercial Sector, whilst keeping their specialist approach.
Key responsibilities
· To develop close, effective relationships with brokers and to drive the development of broker and customer base with the Leeds team.
· To underwrite consistent and profitable Commercial business
· Complete the relevant Company Underwriter Passport to understand the full range of the Company Product strategy
· To drive new business opportunities through the Manager and Product referral structure
· To develop the ability to visit brokers office and trade with them on site
· To effectively negotiate with both internal and external parties including identified points of contact with a brokerage
· To maintain and develop internal and external customer relations
· To regularly visit broker partners and write their business
· To act as a point of referral for chosen product lines (Product Expert)
Key requirements
· Preferably degree qualified with a minimum of 2 A levels at grade C or above, although this is not a pre-requisite for an experienced underwriter
· ACII qualification or progression towards qualification
· Experience within the Commercial market
· Demonstrable drive, self motivation and determination to achieve results
· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus
· Clear ability to think on their feet and make intelligent, innovative business decisions
· Able to apply consideration to potential outcomes and to make decisions with supervision in difficult and complex situations. Able to make logical decisions by using key facts available
· Strong influencing, negotiation and leadership skills
· Team player
· Outgoing and confident
